DIGA: Spectrum Gardening Presents Gardening, a Calming and Stimulating Experience

March 17 @ 1:30 pm 3:00 pm PDT

Are you interested in gardening with the Disabled Independent Gardeners Association (DIGA)?

The wonderful thing about a garden is that it provides opportunities to honor individual strengths and preferences while sharing enjoyment with others. Join Theo from Spectrum Gardening to learn how gardening can offer calming and stimulating sensory experiences to those on the Autism spectrum. He will also be discussing how to maximize your garden space with vertical gardening, one of his many areas of expertise.

Bring your questions as there will be a Q&A section at the end.

Throughout Theo’s life, he has experienced many different challenges. One of which is having a congenital heart condition, which severely limits his ability to play sports. Because Theo struggles with his energy levels, his gardening style focuses on low effort/energy and ease of access, while maximizing yield and harvest!

Theo was diagnosed with autism when he was a child. He spent most of his childhood and teenage years highly unregulated and did not understand why he felt different compared to others. He is most relaxed in a garden or field surrounded by plants.

The class will be closed 10 minutes after the start time to prevent class disruption. Please be on time, or you can watch the recording on Facebook or YouTube afterwards.
