GrowABLE: Creating Inclusive Gardens in the City of Surrey

July 8 @ 2:00 pm 3:00 pm PDT

Man in wheelchair uses a shovel to work on his garden outside.

Time to take out your shovels! Can You Dig It (CYDI) is a program administered by the Public Health Association of BC and supports communities across BC to create inclusive and welcoming food-growing gardens where individuals from all backgrounds and life experiences can learn, share, grow and contribute to the betterment of their community.

In the DIGA #GrowABLE gardening workshop, explore the successes and challenges they’ve encountered when building and coordinating community gardens and learn about the steps taken to create and maintain accessibility and inclusivity.

Angelina Sharma is a Community Food Animator for the Can You Dig It and Farm to School BC programs. Angelina works to strengthen food systems in the City of Surrey by collaborating with schools, community gardens and local organizations. She is passionate about community engagement and reducing health inequities among marginalized communities. In her spare time, Angelina enjoys yoga, baking and gardening with her dad.

Please note that this live event will be recorded and streamed to Facebook and YouTube, where it will remain available for our community to enjoy after the session has ended. Closed captioning for this event will be available on these platforms.
