GrowABLE: The Native, Invasive and Flying Squirrels of Stanley Park

September 15 @ 2:00 pm 3:00 pm PDT

A squirrel in a tree. "Growable: The Native, Invasive and Flying Squirrels of Stanley Park"

In this instalment of DIGA’s GrowABLE series, join Stanley Park Ecology Society educator Anna Bondartchouk from 2:00 – 3:00 PDT for a presentation on the three squirrel species living in Vancouver’s Stanley Park.

Squirrels scurry all over Stanley Park; they forage on the forest floor, run up trees with ease, and even rummage through the occasional waste bin. Despite how common the sight of a squirrel is, they are remarkable rodents with amazing adaptations. Find out how an invasive squirrel species came to thrive in BC, the many tricks of squirrel tails, and how their famous forgetfulness helps our coastal forest grow

Anna Bondartchouk (she/they) is the Public Environmental Education Coordinator for Stanley Park Ecology Society. After volunteering at wildlife rescues and invasive species removals, she pursued studies at BCIT for a Fish and Wildlife diploma, and a BSc. in Ecological Restoration. Now, Anna enjoys designing educational programs and coordinating events that connect people to nature.
