Native Plants for Accessible Gardens

November 6, 2025 @ 2:00 pm 3:00 pm America/Vancouver

Join Kristen Miskelly of Satinflower Nurseries for an engaging online workshop on how native plants can make gardens both ecologically rich and accessible for all.

Together, we’ll explore:
The beauty and benefits of local native plant species
Simple garden design ideas that support mobility and sensory enjoyment
Practical ways to create pollinator and wildlife habitats — even in small or adaptive spaces

Whether you’re new to native plants or already growing them, this session will offer inspiration and practical guidance for gardeners of all abilities.

About the Instructor:
Kristen Miskelly, MSc, RPBio, is a biologist and co-owner of Satinflower Nurseries, a native plant nursery based on southern Vancouver Island dedicated to helping people connect with nature through native plants. She is also a PhD student at the University of Victoria, where her research focuses on the seed biology and propagation of native prairie-oak species. Kristen is passionate about sharing her knowledge of native plants and helping communities create habitat in their own backyards.
